Is it that time of the year again already? I was just lording over…I mean…um…collaborating with my new Executive Assistant!
Of course, you, dearest readers know, I’m kidding. We don’t have the money to employ even poorly paid and woefully abused assistants in nightmare jobs here at Filthy Dreams! What we do still have, however, is an annual trip down our most-read memory lane. 2023 was a busy year for Filthy Dreams, full of controversies that we created ourselves! Well, one controversy in particular, unless you count the people who stormed off our Instagram follows, furious at our recent critique of Jill Biden’s bad bad taste War against Christmas!
But Filthy Dreams didn’t hit the big time over winter-wonderland-whining alone. Clearly, I’m talking about our viral sensation, “The Worst Art Job Listing Ever Created.” Ho-hum…Do I have to rehash that same old story? I certainly don’t feel like it as I find it deeply uninteresting. I’ll only say that, of course, after doing this for a decade, THIS is what gets Filthy Dreams (short-lived, thankfully) attention. Though it may have outranked all our other articles ever published by far, the Art World Family wasn’t all we did here at Filthy Dreams. We wrote other things too! See?
So to all those followers, new and old, we want to present our top 10 most-read essays of 2023. Even though we would still do it without you, as this is and has always been just a forum to amuse ourselves, we couldn’t have done it without you! And just for the one commenter who anonymously finger-wagged, “…it’s genuinely embarrassing to use gifs in the year of our lord 2023” (Tell that to Dennis Cooper), we’ve paired them with corresponding GIFs.
